Zero Tolerance Policy
Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited and banned inside and outside the campus. Government Polytechnic Gaya maintains a ragging-free environment for all students.
What Constitutes Ragging?
Definition: Any conduct by a student, whether by words spoken or written or by an act which includes:
- •Physical abuse, lewd acts, teasing, rough or rude treatment causing physical or psychological harm
- •Indulging in rowdy, undisciplined and obscene activities which causes annoyance or mental trauma
- •Forcing a student to do any act which they are not willing to do and causes shame, embarrassment or danger
- •Any act that adversely affects the physique or psyche of a fresher or junior student
Important: The Supreme Court of India has defined ragging as a criminal offense. No leniency is shown to offenders.
Punishments for Ragging
Suspension from Classes
Immediate suspension from attending classes and academic privileges
Withdrawal from Hostel
Debarment from hostel accommodation
Withholding Results
Suspension of results and withholding scholarships
Debarment from Examinations
Not allowed to appear in examinations for one or more semesters
Rustication
Rustication from the institution for a specified period
Expulsion
Permanent expulsion from the institution
Fine/Collective Punishment
Monetary fine or collective punishment to all involved
Criminal Proceedings
Reporting to police for criminal prosecution as per law
